[CONFERENCE] 35th International Conference on Coastal Engineering (ICCE)

17-22 July 2016, Istanbul, Turkey.

35th International Conference on Coastal Engineering (ICCE) will take place in Istanbul, Turkey, 17-22 July 2016.

This ICCE conference offers lectures, short courses and field trips.

RISC-KIT coordinator, Ap van Dongeren will take part in the conference presenting the RISC-KIT project and the RISC-KIT tools, namely the Coastal Resilience Assessment Framework (CRAF), the coastal Early Warning System (EWS), the Bayesian Decision Support System (DSS), the web-based management guide.

The main themes of the conference include:

Coastal Structures, Ports, Harbours and Waterways: Wave-structure-soil interactions, breakwaters, ports, marinas, offshore platforms, coastal defence structures, special structures, monitoring, planning, design, reliability based design, construction, performance, operation, optimization, maintenance, waterway siltation and dredging.

Coastal Management, Environment: Integrated coastal zone management, climate change, sustainability of coastal environment, coastal pollution, recreation, water quality, wetlands and estuaries, environmental impacts and compensation, coastal eco-hydraulics.

Natural Hazards and Coastal Risk: Tsunami, storm surge, freak waves, extreme events, sea level rise, flood risk management and strategies, assessment of coastal risks.

Renewable Energy from Coastal Resources: Wind energy, wave energy and current energy.

The conference will offer short courses on the following:

  • Numerical modeling of storm-induced hydrodynamic and morphological changes: Introduction to XBeach.
  • Sustainable coastal projects - from idea to hydraulic design.
  • Performance-based seismic design of piled piers and wharves.

Programs for all of these courses can be downloaded here.

Dates: July 17 - 22, 2016.
Venue: Istanbul, Turkey.
Organisers: Turkish Chamber of Civil Engineers, the Coastal Engineering Research Council (CERC) of Coasts, Oceans, Ports and Rivers Institute (COPRI), and the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
Program: Preliminary program available here.
Registration: Early-bird registration is available until 25 May 2016 here.
