RISC-KIT Summer School takes place in Ferrara, Italy.
Students came from all over Europe to learn about improving coastal resilience in coastal areas.
The first RISC-KIT Summer School took place in Italy from 12 - 16 September, 2016. Students from Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece, France, Germany and the UK came together to learn about the RISC-KIT tools from the RISC-KIT Experts.
The first RISC-KIT Summer School introduced the RISC-KIT Storm Impact Database, the Coastal Risk Assessment Framework Tool (CRAF), phases I and II, as well as the RISC-KIT Web-based Management Guide. Using these tools, the students will learn how to identify storm risk hotspots and how to improve resilience and preparedness in at-risk areas.
Lessons were focussed on the RISC-KIT case study site, Porto Garibaldi-Bellocchio, and involved a field trip to the region that has been previously impacted by intense storm events such as the 2012 Halloween Storm and 2015 St Agatha Storm.
See the RISC-KIT Facebook page for updates and all the latest from the summer school and other RISC-KIT events.
There is also still time to apply for the Second RISC-KIT "Summer" School that will be held in Faro, Portugal in January 2017. See here for more details about the course and how to apply.
