[EVENT] World Wetlands Day 2017
Wetlands for Disaster Risk Reduction, 2 February 2017
World Wetlands Day will take place on 2 February 2017 and this year's event is dedicated to celebrating the role of the world's wetlands in disaster risk reduction (DRR). This day marks the date of the adoption of the Convention on Wetlands on 2 February 1971, in the Iranian city of Ramsar on the shores of the Caspian Sea. Each year since 1997, the Ramsar Secretariat has provided materials to help raise public awareness about the importance and value of wetlands.
The orgainisers - the UNISDR, IUCN, Wetlands International, UNEP, PEDRR, and Biosphere Connections - encourage schools and youth groups to take part in the event, and have made available a range of materials for anyone who would like to take part. You can download this material here.
