New to RISC-KIT?
We are an EU-funded project developing risk management tools, with the help of End Users, to help deal with hazards and storm impacts in vulnerable coastal areas.

[WEBINAR] RISC-KIT Webinar on coastal risk assessment tools and applications in the UK.

26 April 2017

The EU-funded RISC-KIT project has developed a Toolkit of methods, tools and approaches to answer a series of questions:

  •  where are areas of increased risk (or “hotspots”) located on a particular coast?
  •  what is the impact of future coastal hazard scenarios?
  •  what are effective Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) measures at a hotspot?
  •  how can DRR measures best be implemented?

In the webinar, the following will be demonstrated:

  • how hotspots can be identified using the Coastal Risk Assessment Framework (CRAF)
  • how high-resolution hotspot tools can be used, with particular emphasis to a Decision Support System
  • how a Multi Criteria Analysis (MCA) can be used to evaluate different DRR measures - singly or in combination in a series of Strategic Alternatives

We will show how these tools have been applied to the North Norfolk coast, between Hunstanton and Kelling Hard.  The meeting is open to members of the Environmental Agency only.
